West Nile virus found in Berthoud
June 29, 2017
Wanted to make sure people know about West Nile in Berthoud!
West Nile Virus has been detected in a Berthoud trap.
After testing the mosquito traps last week, lab workers at Colorado State University found the first West Nile Virus (WNV) positive mosquito in one of the Berthoud traps. While the incidence of WNV is higher than normal at this time of year, the threshold for when the town will commence spraying operations was not met. Weekly trapping and testing will continue.
Expect that we will continue to see higher-than-normal WNV activity due to the hot temperatures, so keep yourself safe from WNV by wearing bug spray, using your preferred method of mitigation etc.
